During the last 3 years PrintYorkshire has seen the print sector activity in Yorkshire and the Humber grow from £1.5bn to £1.85bn. Whilst there has been consolidation in some areas the number employed in the industry has remained constant at approximately 20,000 against the national trend for numbers to decline.
PrintYorkshire has been recognised as an exemplar of the cluster projects and has established a highly respected brand and focus of activity in the region. In addition to the Showcase events which have engaged the senior industry figures, as well as print buyers, the range of Best Practice workshops has helped SMEs in the network to exceed the high standards that are expected in the region.
It will continue to champion the encouragement of school leavers who are now considering careers in the industry and the widely supported message of environmental responsibility.
"I am delighted that PrintYorkshire’s solid foundations will be put to good use as the initiative’s life is extended. It is a tribute to the team and its supporters who have helped to establish such a strong reputation" said Robert McClements.
"I have been involved with Print Yorkshire since its inception and seen it grow. I am delighted now to be playing a more active role and ensuring that the BPIF and Print Yorkshire continue to jointly add value to the printing industry in Yorkshire" commented Mike Hopkins.
Print Yorkshire will continue to operate out of the BPIF offices in Wakefield and is developing a programme of events for the forthcoming year. Print Yorkshire can be contacted on 01924 203338 or through the website
